Greater Moncton's aerospace and defence industry is well positioned to grow. The Greater Moncton International Airport is home to the Moncton Flight College (MFC). This is one of only 12 large flight colleges in North America and is certified to Canadian, JAA, CAAC (China) and FAA standards. MFC offers recreational, private and commercial pilot licenses, including multi-engine, IFR and night rating endorsements. It is the only Canadian CAE Global Academy and one of 6 worldwide.

Local universities, including Université de Moncton, Atlantic Baptist University and Mount Allison University have a number of researchers in fields related to aerospace, including a wind tunnel for turbulence studies, extensive GIS/mapping and GPS based research programs; as well as space-based research like satellite communications, hyperspectral imaging and NASA affiliated scientists working on remote exploration methods for the Mars Mission.
